HOW TO | NEGATIVE SPACE NAIL ART

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Negative space nail art has become a very popular nail trend, where you leave parts of your natural nail color peaking through. There are tons of different looks, I wanted to try out this triangle shaped look, so keep on reading for a step by step tutorial on how to recreate this.

Things you'll need:
Pointed nail stencils or tape (if you are comfortable enough with free handing the triangle, then skip these)
Nail polish of your choice
Clear top coat
Drying spray or drops (optional)

Step 1: Before starting make sure your nails are clean. Then apply the nail stencils, if you don't have nail stencils, just cut ten pieces of tape into triangles and use those.
I would recommend doing all steps on one hand at a time, so you won't mess up the other hand.

Step 2: Apply two coats of nail polish and let it dry before removing the nail stencils. If you get some nail polish in the "naked" area, use a cotton swab and some nail polish remover and wipe it away.

Step 3: When the nail polish is dry to the touch, apply your top coat and your done. For a quicker drying process, spray some polish dryer on your nails or use drying drops.
